[…] Goerner’s quiet self-assurance, beautifully solid technique and air of unforced musical authority made an immediate impression. […] The disc includes five-drawn accounts of Third Sonata and A-flat Polonaise-Fantaisie; more striking still are his unhurried Fourth Scherzo and Barcarolle, in which the iridescent sonorities, strong, steady rhythmic pull and supple lyrical manner of melodic unfolding elicit comparisons with Lipatti and Rubinstein. 2a- "..Nelson Goerner legt eine atemberaubende Einspielung vor, die in ihrer Vielschichtigkeit der Komplexität des Werks voll gerecht wird. Der 1969 geborene Künstler, der 1997 mit einer bemerkenswerten Chopin-CD (EMI) auf sich aufmerksam gemacht hat, baut dramaturgisch geschickt einen mächtigen Klavierton auf ("Harmonies du soir") und entfaltet das Werk in orchestraler Farbenpracht. Er spielt das virtuose Moment voll aus, setzt wuchtige Oktavgänge oder schwindelerregende Läufe aber so dramatisch-markant ein, dass das Suchend-Leidenschaftliche dieser Musik über die spieltechnische Lust dominiert. Hinter der Prachtenfaltung macht Goerner das undomestizierte Moment hörbar, das als irritierende Nervösität in allen Etuden beunruhigend präsent ist. So gelingt dem argentinischen Pianisten eine Interpretation, die nicht nur in die transzendentalen Höhen, sondern auch in die triebhaften Untiefen des Klavierspiels führt"
